Classic with a twist
Rachel Jones is an award winning jeweller and silversmith, currently studying her Masters at the Royal College of Art in London. Rachel completed her degree in Contemporary Jewellery at Middlesex University, spending six months in Australia for an exchange programme at Curtin University in Perth. Since graduating Rachel also spent a year honing her craft at the renowned Bishopsland workshops, undertaking their Post-Graduate Professional Development in Jewellery & Silversmithing learning from leading professional craftspeople in the English Countryside. Rachel has also worked for several established contemporary jewellers including Lin Cheung, the designer of the London 2012 Paralympic Medals.
Rachel is inspired by the everyday, from modern architecture to natural forms translating them into silver and gold designs which are seemingly simple looking but are complex to construct. Rachel's aim is to make jewellery that is wearable, as a twist on classic traditional jewellery.
"My work has been described as beautiful, simplistic and well executed. I seek to implement this in both jewellery and silverware, creating work that is functional or wearable but with a conceptual edge." - Rachel
